DragonStrike is a fantasy combat flight simulator released in 1990 by Strategic Simulations, Inc. (SSI). Set in the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Dragonlance universe, the game places players in control of a dragon rider defending the world of Krynn. Unlike traditional flight simulators focused on modern aircraft, DragonStrike lets you soar through medieval skies on the back of a powerful dragon.
The gameplay blends aerial combat with fantasy storytelling. Players complete missions such as escorting allies, defending castles, and battling enemy dragons and flying creatures. Combat involves managing altitude, speed, and magical breath attacks while avoiding enemy fire. Between missions, narrative briefings expand the Dragonlance storyline. The game also includes ground-based sequences where players explore castles and interact with characters. Its mixture of simulation-style controls and fantasy themes made it unique for its time. While originally released for MS-DOS, modern Windows systems can run it using DOSBox or compatibility tools, preserving this classic dragon-riding adventure.
